Ralph E. Abeyta, born Dec. 29, 1926 in Taos, N.M., died March 20, 2011 after living in Redwood City for four years.
Ralph was born to Manuel and Rose Abeyta and spent his youth in New Mexico.
He has been married to wife Lupe (Mascarenas) for 64 years. They moved to California to live in the early ’40s. He was a merchant marine veteran and worked most of his life in the electronics field. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Gilbert (Helen).
He is survived by his wife Lupe, his brother Manuel Abeyta (Lucy) and his two daughters Mary Ann (Gary Youngdale) and Linda (John Westerhouse). He loved spending time with his grandchildren (Christi, Eric, Gina, Brian and Lisa). When his great grandchildren (Nathan, Analiese, Austin, Shayla, Chase, Blake and Francesca) came along, he loved going to their sporting events, music concerts or just having them visit. They were the highlight of his life.
The family’s gratitude goes to all the wonderful people at Mission Hospice and especially to his caregiver, Meliame, who helped comfort him in his illness. Respecting his wishes, a private service was held for the immediate family. A memorial mass will be held in the near future for those who wish to attend to celebrate and honor his life.
