I am writing this letter to strongly support San Mateo County Deputy District Attorney Brian Donnellan for judge. For more than 20 years, Brian regularly appeared in front of me when I was a San Mateo County Superior Court judge. He has completed 56 jury trials to verdict, including attempted murder and robbery jury trials in my courtroom. I was always deeply impressed by his work.
Brian is smart, articulate, highly skilled and a “straight-shooter.” He cares about and works on behalf of crime victims. He is always calm, unflappable, and treats everyone with respect. He will have an ideal judicial temperament, and I have no doubt that he will make a successful transition to the bench. This is why Brian has the support of every San Mateo County Superior Court judge, every single one of his colleagues in the District Attorney’s Office, and numerous defense attorneys.
In addition to his stellar career as a prosecutor, Brian served his country in the United States Army Reserve for 24 years, retiring in 2020 with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his outstanding work in Iraq.
Brian has deep roots in the community. He has lived in San Mateo County since 1983, and is raising his family here. He is the only candidate in this judicial election who lives and works in San Mateo County. He has my unqualified endorsement.
