Authorities investigating the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie more than a week ago released the first surveillance images Tuesday, showing a masked person on her porch the night she went missing. Authorities searching for the mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie have not identified any suspects of persons of interest. FBI Director Kash Patel posted the images on X, saying, "The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems." He said the images show "an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie's front door the morning of her disappearance."

A total of 100 of the schoolchildren abducted from a Nigerian Catholic school and released over the weekend have been hosted at a government-organized ceremony. Gunmen attacked St. Mary's Catholic School in the Papiri community on Nov. 21, seizing at least 303 children and 12 teachers. Fifty escaped shortly afterward. On Monday, the freed schoolchildren arrived at the Niger Government House in several buses accompanied by military trucks, before being welcomed by government officials. Details surrounding their release were not made public and the government has not said if any ransom was paid. Nigeria's President Bola Tinubu in a statement commended security agencies "for their steadfast work" in ensuring the safe return of the students.

Nigeria's president says that all 24 schoolgirls held by assailants following a mass abduction last week from a school in Kebbi in northwestern Nigeria have been rescued. A total of 25 girls were abducted on Nov. 17 from a government school in Kebbi state's Maga town, but one of them was able to escape the same day. The remaining 24 were all rescued, according to a statement from President Bola Tinubu. It was among a spate of recent mass abductions, including a raid on a Catholic school Friday in north-central Niger state in which more than 300 students and staff were abducted. Fifty students later escaped.

Gunmen have attacked a Catholic school in Nigeria, abducting more than 200 schoolchildren and 12 teachers. The Christian Association of Nigeria reported Friday's incident at St. Mary's School in the Papiri community. The attack took place on Friday, and 215 pupils and 12 teachers were seized. Security forces have been deployed to the area. This abduction follows a similar incident earlier in the week in a neighboring state. No group has claimed responsibility, but such kidnappings are common in Nigeria, often carried out by gangs seeking ransom.

A Connecticut man whose parents were kidnapped after he took part in a $245 million Bitcoin theft has pleaded guilty to fraud and money laundering conspiracy charges and has agreed to testify against his co-defendants. That is according to court documents unsealed this week in federal court in Washington. Veer Chetal, from Danbury, is one of three men charged with stealing 4,100 Bitcoins from a victim in Washington. Court documents say that a week after the theft, Chetal's parents were kidnapped briefly in Danbury in a failed ransom plot aimed at Chetal. Seven men were arrested in the kidnapping. Chetal's lawyer declined to comment Friday.
