On Tuesday, July 7 at 11:00am, San Mateo County Libraries celebrates Disability Pride Month with a talk from Nicole Adler, author of With Love as Her Compass. Join us at the San Carlos Library to hear about Nicole's life as a queer woman with Trisomy 21, commonly known as Down Syndrome, and her journey through writing her memoir.

Told through heartfelt interviews, powerful third-person narrative, and loving reflections from family, friends, and fellow advocates, Nicole’s story celebrates identity, resilience, and the power of speaking your truth. From early childhood challenges to creating her own LGBTQ+ short film, hosting The No No Show, and becoming a nationally recognized speaker and advocate, Nicole’s life radiates purpose and passion.

Meet Nicole Adler
Nicole Adler is a speaker, human rights advocate, author, and host who inspires audiences to use their voice to create meaningful change. For more than a decade, Nicole has advanced disability rights and inclusion, helping individuals and organizations rethink what it means to lead with authenticity, compassion, and purpose. As a two-time Governor-appointed member of the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities, Nicole has advanced policy and elevated the voices of individuals with disabilities across California and beyond.
Nicole is the author of With Love as Her Compass, chronicling her journey to making history as the first person with Down syndrome to serve as a Grand Marshal for San Francisco Pride. She is also the host of The No No Show, which just wrapped its third season. She uses her show to lead conversations with notable changemakers who are working to build a more inclusive and kinder world. Through her storytelling and lived experience, Nicole challenges audiences to move beyond awareness and take action, empowering them to advocate, connect, and make a difference. Her children’s book “I Am Me” will be released on July 1, 2026.
