Victorian Days at the Old Courthouse takes place Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10 am until 2 pm at the San Mateo County History Museum, housed within the Old County Courthouse at 2200 Broadway, Redwood City.
Â
The Victorian Era was named for Queen Victoria, who reigned in Great Britain from 1837 to 1901. Discover what life was like in the 1800s through craft activities and a vintage fashion show. Admission and craft activities are FREE.
Â
Between 10 am and 2 pm, kids can create crafts related to a Victorian afternoon including creating their own hats and fans. Then, participate in a scavenger hunt through the museum.
Â
At 1 pm, view the changing fashions of the Victorian era. Models will be showcasing outfits from the full skirts of the 1850s to the bustles of the 1870s to the Gibson Girl look of the turn-of-the-century. In addition to details about the fashions, discover stories of the Peninsula's nineteenth-century millionaires who would have worn them. All the clothes on display are part of the museum’s education collection, intended for use in fashion shows and reenactments.
Â
Victorian Days is sponsored by the Cypress Lawn Heritage Foundation.
