All-Star Latin/Jazz Trio

The All-Star Latin/Jazz Trio featuring JOHN SANTOS, 7 time Grammy nominee with LARRY VUCKOVICH and JEFF CHAMBERS.

Far more than a master percussionist, internationally renowned multi-Grammy-nominated percussionist and San Francisco native, John Santos, is a prolific Afro-Latin bandleader, composer, teacher, writer, producer, and cultural activist with a career of over 45 years in the Bay Area. He has worked with acknowledged masters including Cachao, Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente, Bebo Valdés, Max Roach, Eddie Palmieri, and Omar Sosa. He is an Advisory Board member of Oaktown Jazz, Living Jazz, and the Afro-Latin Jazz Alliance (NY), and a Trustee of SFJAZZ. His next CD, Art of the Descarga, is scheduled for a late 2019 release on the Smithsonian/Folkways label.November 12th, 2006 was proclaimedJohn Santos Day in San Francisco by Mayoral proclamation.

Collectively these three Jazz/Latin veterans have played with Cal Tjader, Tito Puente, Pete Escovedo, Bobby Hutcherson, McCoy Tyner, Paquito D'Rivera, Jose Mangual, and more. One of their specialties is transforming the timeless, beautiful melodies from the Great American Songbook to jazz rhythms and flavors including boleros, cha-chas, mambos, and sambas. Also, they present a wide ranging repertoire which includes swinging bebop, jazz classics, funky boogaloo sounds and more. The sound of this trio is unique, you're in for an exciting experience.
