Most senators expressed unease with Trump's pressure campaign on Ukraine that prompted the impeachment, but just one Republican, Mitt Romney of Utah, broke party ranks and voted to convict. In 2021, the Senate acquitted Trump in a second trial for allegedly inciting the violent Jan. 6 siege of the Capitol.

The NFL has faced pressure to take a stance against President Donald Trump's immigration policies ahead of Sunday's game in the San Francisco Bay Area between Seattle and New England. More than 184,000 people signed a petition urging the league to denounce ICE's potential presence. The liberal group MoveOn planned to deliver the petition to the NFL's New York headquarters. The NFL's chief security officer said Tuesday there are "no planned ICE enforcement activities." Halftime show headliner Bad Bunny is expected to address the moment. Trump says he doesn't plan to attend.
