The global market has exploded for drinks that promise to do more than just taste good. So much so that grocery store beverage aisles are starting to look more like pharmacies. There are sodas made with mushrooms that supposedly improve mental clarity and juices packed with bacteria that claim to enhance digestive health. Water infused with collagen carries the promise of better skin, and energy drinks offer to help burn body fat. Welcome to the frenzy of functional beverages. What started in the late 1980s with caffeine- and vitamin-laced energy drinks like Red Bull has grown into a multibillion-dollar industry. Hundreds of brands are vying for consumers' attention with increasingly exotic ingredients and wellness-focused marketing.
The Golden Globe Awards likes to think of itself as the party of the year, but instead of a debauched, champagne-fueled romp, it can sometimes feel more like a strange high school reunion for the extremely famous. Some are catching up with old friends and co-stars, some are kissing their dates in plain sight and some fawn over the cool kids they haven't yet met. Sometimes it happens on camera, as with "Poor Things" director Yorgos Lanthimos swooning over his proximity to a personal idol, Bruce Springsteen, but most of the time those interactions happen when the cameras are off. The off-screen moments Sunday included stars making dramatic entrances and lots of fans headed to "The Bear" table.
E-40 created his own lane with an unorthodox rap flow that's worked for more than 30 years. There's no slowing down for the 56-year-old hip-hop legend who's release his new album "Rule of Thumb: Rule 1" on Friday. The new album — which features NBA Youngboy, Too Short, Larry June, Gucci Mane and B.G. — is the first installment of a "Rule of Thumb" album series. He plans to release the sequel album early next year. In a recent interview, E-40 spoke about being an underrated legend and his new cookbook with Snoop Dogg called "Goon With The Spoon," which released earlier this week.
