Old Woodside Store Day

Sunday, May 3, 2026 | 12–4 p.m. | FREE Admission Old Woodside Store | 3300 Tripp Road (at Kings Mountain Road), Woodside, CA 94062

Ever wonder what life was like before smartphones, supermarkets, and store-bought butter? Step back in time and find out — for free!

The San Mateo County Historical Association invites you to Old Woodside Store Day, a fun-filled afternoon where history isn't just something you read about — it's something you do.

Travel back to the 1880s and get your hands dirty (literally) with activities inspired by the redwood logging era that shaped this region. Try your hand at:

🪚 Two-person sawing — teamwork makes the dream work🪓 Splitting shingles with a mallet and froe🧺 Washing clothes the old-fashioned way — your washing machine will never look so good🧵 Twining rope — a skill you didn't know you needed🧈 Churning butter — because fresh butter is always worth the effort🪆 Making old-time dolls to take home as a keepsake

And if all that hard pioneer work works up an appetite for good music, you're in luck — live traditional Bluegrass will be setting the mood all afternoon.

The Woodside Store itself is no ordinary backdrop. This landmark has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1985 and has been a California Historical Landmark since 1949 — so you're not just attending an event, you're stepping inside a piece of history.

It's the perfect Sunday outing for families, history buffs, and anyone who's ever been curious about life in the redwood country of old California.

FREE. Fun. Unforgettable.
