On October 26, 2023, the Congregational Church of San Mateo will host an event entitled JUST ACTION: Challenging the Segregation Enacted Under The Color of Law. The public is invited to attend.
In the fall of 2019 Richard Rothstein, author of the highly acclaimed book The Color of Law, delivered a presentation to a standing room-only audience at the Congregational Church of San Mateo. In the presence of nearly 400 attendees, he described how government at all levels—national, state and local—segregated communities in the United States. On October 26, 2023 he returns to San Mateo, this time with his daughter and housing policy expert Leah Rothstein. Together they will discuss how community members can act to undo the harms of this past and begin to remedy a profoundly unconstitutional aspect of our nation’s past. The title of the event mirrors the title of a book the two of them have co-authored, just released in June.
