37th Presentation of Art & Science

Artificial intelligence has become part of almost everything we do, especially in creating art. The speed of making art has increased tremendously. In this talk, I want to explore: can we think of artificial intelligence as an artist? I’m not talking about artists using AI as a tool to create art—I’m okay with that. What I really want to ask is: Can AI itself be considered an artist?

I conclude the presentation with an exhibition of some of my non-AI-generated artwork. If the weather allows, we will invite the audience, thanks to the San Mateo County Astronomical Society and the CSM Astronomy Department, to a telescopic observation of the sky. With assistance from experts, you will enjoy a stunning view of celestial wonders.
