Police are increasing security in New Orleans' busy French Quarter in the wake of a New Year's Day attack that killed 14 people. A police department spokesperson said Friday that heightened security will remain in place as New Orleans prepares for two more events that draw big crowd. The Carnival season that leads to Mardi Gras begins Monday, and the city will host the Super Bowl on Feb. 9. Authorities say dozens were injured when Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove a pickup truck into a New Year's crowd early Wednesday. The driver was killed in a gunbattle with police. A spokesperson for University Medical Center New Orleans said 13 victims remained hospitalized Friday.
