Transit and county officials are expected to strategically — and cautiously — steer toward 2018, as SamTrans and the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors gear up to ask voters for a half-cent sales tax hike.

With congestion woes and commuter challenges on the top of voters’ minds, the SamTrans Board of Directors met Wednesday to discuss how to engage residents and stakeholders on the need for additional funds.

Holly $#!+ ! Another transportation tax! No way! Have you seen how much those guys at SamTrans make? No, no, no more Taxes!!!!

Greg Snelling

I will support this 1/2 cent sales tax increase as soon as the sales tax is reduced by 1/2 cent.

looking forward to voting NO on this new tax, just say no to these politicians who look at taxpayers as their own private piggybank. Demand accountability and responsibility from these politicians with their hands constantly out for more money. A NO vote will get their attention, trust me.

no more taxes please. those of us on fixed income are bleeding to death. Then they are gonna use 300,000-600,000 of our money to convince us that we need to raise taxes. Funny how that works. Seems bassackwards that they can do that???

The SamTrans General Manager Jim Hartnett and all the top executives at SamTrans make an absurd amount of money, yet they are currently trying to cheat their represented employees out of fair cost of living adjustments. The employees are currently working without a contract. SamTrans Board of Directors and Management need to quit messing around and take care of their employees before things get ugly. Enough is enough.

Management and CEO make way too much money. They need to take care of their represented employees that are currently working without a contract. Quit messing around and give them fair cost of living increase.

...."What WASN'T directly mentioned during Wednesday’s meeting was that the COUNTY COMMISSIONED AND PAID FOR A POLL EARLIER THIS YEAR THAT FOUND VOTERS PRIORITIZED fixing potholes, repairing streets, reducing freeway congestion and increasing Caltrain capacity"...........I guess the politicians and business interests can JUST IGNORE what their constituents actually tell them that they want... and then they play the game of attrition warfare, where politicians and business interests join forces and the war is usually won by the side with greater. long term resources .

Wait a minute - weren't we just taxed last week? OK, not last week, but golly gee, sure feels like it! Remember this one, where they LIED about what was in the coffers? http://www.hmbreview.com/opinion/editorials/san-mateo-county-hid-millions-prior-to-sales-tax-vote/article_1b8114a0-c21d-11e6-b571-9b88b74151d0.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=user-share. Evidently, Johnny Taxpayer is a never-ending well of $$$. Say it with me: No. New. Taxes.

No way. Brown just raised it, and San Mateo tricked the voters by hiding the vast amount of cash they had. Now they want more?

No freaking way!

Mr Eddy

Enough with new taxes, this is the reason why these lawmakers are just ruining the quality of life. The money isn't going to local communities, it's going to corporate people in transportation.

Michael Stogner

$650,000 Taxpayer money to educate taxpayers what nonsense, County Supervisors approved $350,000 and Sam Trans is only putting $300,000. This is not an educational program, this is misleading the voters/taxpayers.
