A South San Francisco High School employee was arrested this week on charges she engaged in sexual misconduct with an underage student, according to police.
Noelia Linares, a 31-year-old Richmond resident, was arrested following a weeklong investigation that revealed she allegedly victimized a 17-year-old student, according to South San Francisco police. After announcing Linares was arrested around 4:06 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, authorities are now asking anyone with further information or other potential victims to come forward.
Linares, who police reported was employed as a paraprofessional, indicated on her LinkedIn profile that she’s spent the last six years working for the high school as an instructional assistant for bilingual students and typically works in eight different classrooms throughout the week. She also worked at El Camino High School for a year and studied psychology at Notre Dame de Namur University and San Francisco State University, according to her LinkedIn profile.
In a statement to the community, Shawnterra Moore, superintendent of the South San Francisco Unified School District, sought to assure parents that school officials are cooperating with the investigation.
“While we are still learning about the circumstances surrounding the allegations, we are confident that no students are currently in any danger. We believe this is an opportunity to discuss with your child the importance of maintaining open communication with you as parents or another, trusted adult, especially if they feel that something inappropriate or uncomfortable has happened at or related to school. Student safety remains a high priority for South San Francisco High School and the District,” Moore wrote.
Police would not release further information about the nature of the alleged sexual misconduct or where it may have occurred.
Linares was reportedly booked into county jail on felony charges related to sexual misconduct of a minor. However, shortly after her arrest she was out of jail on $100,000 bail, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Her first court date was scheduled January 23. The District Attorney’s Office had not received the police report as of Tuesday and could not confirm what, if any, charges might be formally filed.
