The San Mateo National Majors All-Stars are headed to the District 52 championship round for the first time in over a decade. And — in the same National-American matchup as the District 52 9-10s winners’ bracket final — they had to go through their crosstown rival to get there.

Appearing in their first Majors winners’ bracket final since 2007, National scored a thrilling 3-2 extra-inning walk-off victory over San Mateo American Sunday at Mitchell Park.

National’s Noah Greenspan provided the heroics with the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh, singling home Tommy Kane to end it. Greenspan also stepped up as National’s starting pitcher, working 4 2/3 innings while striking out 10.

Jay Leder earned the win in relief, firing 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

Luke Miller hit a home run for American.

With the win, National advances to the championship round starting Tuesday at Mitchell Park in Palo Alto. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. National must be defeated twice to be denied the championship.

American will now face San Carlos in the elimination bracket finals Monday at Mitchell Park at 5:30 p.m.
