Heading into the District 52 All-Stars tournaments, the Daily Journal resolved to include an item on every game in each of the 10s, 11s and 12s tournaments. Due to an editorial error, the games for Friday, June 27 were not published. So, to round out our coverage of the District 52 tournaments that concluded over the past week, we are publishing game reports from June 27.
San Mateo National 5, Hillsborough 3
With San Mateo National down to their last out of the tournament, Michael Bahamondes delivered to keep his team’s season alive. National was trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth, when Bahamondes stepped to the plate with two on and two out, and connected for a walk-off three-run home run to left field to stun Hillsborough in an elimination game at Middlefield Ballpark.
National totaled seven hits in the game, three of them coming in the sixth. William Falzon sparked the rally with a one-out infield single, and with two outs Christopher Vasquez singled to left to bring Bahamondes to the plate.
Bahamondes finished the day 2 for 3 with a double, a homer and four RBIs. He also doubled home a run in the fourth inning to close a Hillsborough lead to 3-2. Vasquez added a 3-for-3 day with two runs scored.
National jumped ahead 1-0 in the first when Vasquez doubled and scored on an error on a ball off the bat of Nathan Bosick. Hillsborough answered with three runs in the fourth, jumping ahead 2-1 on a two-run triple from Will DeMartini, scoring an insurance run on an RBI single from Will Duffell.

National starter Caleb Fuata worked five innings to take a no-decision, allowing three runs on four hits, three walks and a hit batsman, while striking out five. Bahamondes earned the win in relief after working a scoreless sixth. Finn Rowbotham and Duffell pitched for Hillsborough.
Palo Alto 7, Foster City 2
Trailing 1-0 with six outs remaining in an elimination game at Middlefield Ballpark, Palo Alto rallied for seven runs in the top of the fifth to knock out Foster City.
A leadoff walk to Ian Nilsen and back-to-back singles from Colton Kuchinski and Henry Doll loaded the bases. Then an infield grounder saw Foster City cut down the run at the plate, but a throwing error on the back end allowed Kuchinski and Doll to score to put Paly ahead. Liam Murphy followed with an RBI single, Austin Carlstrom singled home another run, Karam Dhillon grounded out to drive home Alonso Ontiveros Herrera, Carlstrom scored on a wild pitch, and Nilsen made his second plate appearance of the inning to produce an RBI single to center to make it 7-1.
Ontiveros Herrera, Doll and Murphy produced two hits apiece for Paly. Oliver Xia, Veer Gehani and William Skubal had two hits apiece for Foster City, while Raj Kayath singled home a run in the second, and Jasen Pessah singled home another in the sixth.
Kuchinski earned the win for Paly, allowing one run on seven hits through 4 1/3 innings. Nilsen added 1 1/3 innings of relief, and Philip Sheng got the last out in the sixth to close it out. Ryunosuke Fjuimoto, Xia, Kansuke Yoshimura and Skylar Ide pitched for Foster City.
