Editor,

Jim Hartnett, the head of Caltrain makes more than the president, yet they still want to give him a bonus (“Transit district head gets bonus” in the May 20 edition of the Daily Journal). For what? Doing the job he is overcompensated for? That is unwarranted and probably unlawful. Both transit system he oversees lose money and he is always hounding taxpayers for more. They are also losing riders despite unprecedented employment. He made a bad bet on the high-speed rail, and stuck us with an unnecessary, expensive and disruptive electrification project, which was to pave the way. I can’t believe he still has a job.
