Editor,

Thank you, Redwood City! We entered this City Council campaign as a community, we campaigned as a community, and we won a City Council seat as a community. I did not win this seat alone. It was won because of the tireless efforts of Cesar Gonzalez, our campaign manager, the unwavering diligence of Cindy Cornell, our treasurer, the enthusiastic canvassers, including Tom Linebarger, Kristen Parks, our DSA, labor and Faith in Action brothers and sisters (you know who you are!), our own Want-A-Lawn-Sign? Merrily Robinson, super supporters Julie Pardini and Kathie Fosgett, our talented campaign photographer Gato K. Rivera and videographers Rhobertino and Andrew, graphics specialists Brian Ostrander and Carol Silva McDermott, webmaster Mark Fassett, Always There When I Needed Her to take care of Bella (or me) Stasha Powell, and, what other campaign had its own band? Thank you, Sue Lopez! And, so many others who were constantly surrounding me with love and support.

Seems the approximately $100,000 spent by the California Apartment Association, California Association of Realtors, and National Association of Realtors, assisted by the San Mateo County Association of Realtors to poison Diana Reddy's name in the minds of voters did not work. Tide has turned - voters of all stripes are sick and tired of the lack of movement on housing insecurity and displacement.

Miss Stasha

When you are honest and have the best of intentions people notice. Diana is a beloved member of the RWC community. She is tireless with her advocacy for housing and those in our community who are under served. I always said I'd never volunteer for a political campaign but as soon as I found out Diana was running my conscience demanded that I do just that. Seeing the behind the scenes truth of SAMCAR, NAR, CAA, and several local realtors not only solidified my decision to get involved but lit a fire under me that will keep me involved. She is a lesson in being a class act. I see why they were so scared of her though. Even as the hits kept coming she continued being a voice for renters, walking the picket lines, thinking outside of the box, serving us legendary family dinners, and kept her eye on the prize which was to bring the voice of the community off the sidelines on to the dais. It was an honor volunteering on this campaign.
