I was pleased to read in the April 3, 2019, edition of the San Mateo Daily Journal that the Burlingame City Council is fighting back against state housing initiatives (Burlingame City Council fends for local control). Cities and towns are in a position to understand best what is in the long-term interest of their constituents. I congratulate the Burlingame City Council for not folding to political special interests and doing what is in the best interest of their citizenry. I hope neighboring communities are comprised of councilmembers that will show political courage and follow Burlingame’s leadership.
