Resident of Foster City, California
Maximo Reyes Akiyama passed away peacefully on Thursday Jan 4th at his home with family by his side. He was loved by his family and all his relatives. He loved life and brought joy to all he met.
He was born in Saipan, in the Marianas Islands. He was the son of Tomomitsu Akiyama and Abilina
Reyes Akiyama. He and his two sisters, Maria and Victoria survived through the hostilities and battles of the Pacific war of World War II. After the war he worked for the U.S. Naval Department at their Medical and Dental Division. In 1956, he moved and relocated his family to California where he settled in the San Francisco Bay Area. First in San Mateo and then Foster City, taking advantage of the newly developed and rapidly growing areas. He trained in the dental field with the U.S. Navy and found employment as a dental technician, later establishing his own laboratory. He was a long time resident of Foster City and enjoyed seeing its growth in the Bay Area,
He is survived by his loving wife, Josephine B. Akiyama and his son Edward B. Akiyama of Concord, California. His generous spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
