Mary Ruth Ann Wider

May 17, 1925 – March 2, 2019

Mary passed away peacefully in her own home with her family by her side. Born in Chicago, Illinois to Ben and Julia Jankowski. Shared many memories with her two daughters of her wonderful times growing up in Chicago. She met and married the love of her life, Frederick Wider. They got married in Coronado, and together made California their home. They raised their two daughters, Susan Ernest and Sharon Austin in Burlingame. Mary was fun-loving and always dressed beautifully, loved visiting with friends, gardening, and everything to do with the Kennedy’s, especially Jacqueline.

Together, Mary and Fred loved square dancing and family barbecues. While raising their family they took many vacations to the coast, Disneyland, and trips to the Grand Canyon.

Mary was a homemaker, but also worked part-time at Macy’s and the San Mateo Election Dept. Mary is survived by her five grandchildren, Jessee Ernest and Arielle Funk (Brian), Jake Ernest (Nicole), Luke Austin (Chloe), Clint Austin (Dallas), and her six great grandchildren. A memorial will be held at a later time for close family and friends.
