Dolores Cunningham Photo

Dolores Cunningham passed away peacefully at home in Redwood City on April 25, 2019. The fourth of ten children of Delfin and Antonia Martin, she was born March 16, 1920 in Koloa, Kauai, came to California in 1940, and married Robert F. Cunningham in 1952.

Dolores and Bob bought their only home in Redwood City and raised two children there. They were founding members of St. Pius Catholic Church, and she was active with many other community organizations in earlier years. She worked for some years in the registrar’s office at the College of Notre Dame in Belmont. Dolores loved her garden, and we imagine her pinching off bits of plants when the angels aren’t looking, to root them in her new heavenly garden.

Dolores is survived by children Robert J. Cunningham (Janet) of Rockport, Texas and Mary Fritz (Jim) of Benicia, California, and grandchildren Amelia and William Fritz, Joseph Cunningham and his son Michael, and Samantha Cunningham Georgakakis. Visitation and memorial will be from 4:00 - 6:00pm on Thursday, May 16 at Crippen & Flynn Woodside Chapel. She will be buried on Friday, May 17th next to her beloved husband at Golden Gate National Cemetery.
