The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission inadvertently shut off water service to the town of Hillsborough’s Sierra/Chelmsford neighborhood Friday morning, according to a San Mateo County Alert Network statement.

The loss of service occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. and affected around 100 homes for about 20 minutes, the SMC Alert said.

The town’s water division flushed the system to ensure proper water quality and delivery. All tests have resulted in proper water quality and staff will continue to monitor the situation, according to the SMC Alert.

Any residents with questions or concerns may contact the Public Works Department at (650) 375-7444.
