Crisis negotiators Sunday afternoon continued to engage with a 45-year-old woman who police said charged at officers and then barricaded herself in her Daly City home Saturday.
The case began around 6:44 p.m. Saturday when Daly City police responded to a report of a physical domestic disturbance on the 300 block of 88th Street, according to police.
The officers met the woman at the front door of her home, and according to police, within seconds of their arrival, she allegedly charged officers with a large kitchen knife.
The officers retreated and contained the woman inside her home, police said. Police detectives and a SWAT team secured the area.
The Daly City Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team and Daly City’s crisis response clinician were at the scene Sunday afternoon, and have engaged in over 16 hours of negotiations with the woman, police said. She is alone and refusing to leave her home, according to police.
The public is asked to avoid the area as negotiations continue, police said.
