The American Legion Post 105 in Redwood City hosted a meeting March 27 to present Chinese American World War II veterans with the Congressional Gold Medal. The regional ceremony was planned to take place in 2020 but was canceled due to COVID-19 and the regional ceremony is planned for July of 2021. The event is to honor the veterans who fought in World War II but were not recognized because of the Chinese Exclusion Act. There are about 500 to 1,000 Chinese American veterans of World War II alive today.
