San Mateo County sheriff’s deputies found a dead man in the parking lot of Gray Whale Cove State Beach early Wednesday morning.
Deputies responded around 1 a.m. and found the man, who had injuries on his face and upper part of his body, and the death was ruled as a homicide, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
A man in the area had car trouble and pulled into the parking lot and saw a man down on the ground and called police, according to San Mateo County sheriff’s Detective Sal Zuno.
Investigators have not yet identified the body, and there is currently no suspect or witness information.
The homicide occurred in California State Parks jurisdiction, and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is assisting them with the investigation. Gray Whale Cove State Beach is just south of Pacifica.
