A friend of the homeless man beaten to death last week at the encampment on Concar Drive at State Route 92 described murder suspects Jeffrey Harrison and Salvador Rodriguez as bullies.

Rodriguez, 22, and Harrison, 46, are accused of killing 35-year-old Kenneth Collier. They were scheduled to enter pleas at the courthouse yesterday, but Rodriguez's attorney, Michael Devoy, requested a later court date so the defense could learn more facts of the case.

Lisa V., who refused to give her last name to protect herself and her 3-year-old daughter, is a San Mateo County resident. She was at the county courthouse in Redwood City yesterday to support Collier because she was one of his few friends.

Lisa V. said she'll be attending the trial in memory of Collier and to show her disdain for the defendants.
