SAN FRANCISCO — Authorities say an inmate who escaped from the San Francisco County Jail has been caught.

Sheriff’s Deputy Enrique Lunquin said 40-year-old Timothy Midgett was arrested at a San Francisco homeless shelter without incident on Tuesday night after sheriff’s deputies received a call that he was there. He is being held without bail on suspicion of felony escape.

Authorities say Midgett fled from the jail on June 7 while taking out the trash. He had been granted special privileges because he was deemed a low-risk inmate and wasn’t a violent offender.

Midgett had been scheduled to be released on July 24 after serving a one-year sentence for a felony drug possession charge. He also has a pending arrest warrant on drug charges in Houston.
