A Daly City woman pleaded no contest to bringing drugs into the county jail after the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office was unable to prove the driving under the influence charge with which she was originally hit, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
The woman, 47-year-old Sarah Olivencia, has three prior driving under the influence convictions, and allegedly, when she made a sudden left turn into a bike lane on Cañada Road on April 26, she caused a biker — visiting from Germany — to swerve to avoid her and fall from her bike.
While a blood test came back positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine and hydrocodone after the incident, the DA’s Office expert didn’t feel confident enough to testify to the connection between the level of drugs in her system and her driving, Wagstaffe said.
Instead, she pleaded no contest only to bringing drugs into the county jail. After she was arrested for the driving incident and booked into county jail, he was found with two bags of methamphetamine on her person.
She has been sentenced to time served and will be on probation for two years.
