K-9 Officer Zigi

San Mateo Police Department K-9 Officer Zigi died recently. The 12-year-old Belgian Malnois had been retired from service for several years, after joining the SMPD in 2016. One of Zigi’s favorite joys was riding in a police car with his handler, Officer Travis Barker, according to a Linkedin post by the SMPD. The department currently staffs four K-9 officers, including Harry, Elvis and Zorro, as well as therapy K-9 Rookie.
