Former Belmont mayor Dick Green turns 100

Former Belmont mayor Dick Green celebrated his 100th birthday Oct. 4, 2020. Current Mayor Warren Lieberman recognized his many achievements with a formal

proclamation Oct. 10.

In the 1980s, Mr. Green served on the Belmont Planning Commission as well as the City Council. During his last term he was elected mayor.

Mr. Green is a U.S. Navy veteran, enlisting shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He attained the rank of commander before retiring from the Naval Reserve in 1968. Mr. Green worked in the railroad industry his entire career before retiring in 1982.
