Equal Pay Day

Commuters at the Hillsdale Caltrain station in San Mateo got homemade cookies from members of the San Mateo branch of the American Association of University Women Tuesday in honor of Equal Pay Day, a day set aside to recognize that most women in the United States had to work all last year and right up to April 2 this year to be paid as much as the typical man took home by Dec. 31 of last year. Here Jane Bradley of the San Mateo branch of AAUW explains that the cookies have a ‘bite’ out of them to represent what’s missing from the paycheck of most women.
