According to this newspaper:

The civil grand jury should investigate the way the agency overseeing the county’s garbage collection and recycling services handles its contractor selection process, according to Supervisor Jerry Hill.

Hey, Jerry Hill, I have a more important cause for you: how about asking the civil grand jury why, in February 2008 after investigating for weeks how the county mishandled molestation complaints about Dr. Ayres, they got scared and decided they didn't have the power to do anything ? How about asking them why they were too afraid to contact Steve Wagstaffe to find out what government bodies they had the power to investigate ?How about asking them why they talked a big talk about how they really wanted to get to the bottom of why so many doctors, therapists and Childrens Services employees thwarted complaints by victims about Dr. Ayres, and then chickened out for no reason ? Shame on the panel members of that grand jury for wimping out. They were given extensive research by members of the San Mateo Citizens Review Panel as to why they should investigate, and then they just acted spineless.

Wilson,

Are you able to post the extensive research that was provided to the Grand Jury?

San Mateo County Grand Jury and the Board of Supervisors have been told/advised for many years that they have NO AUTHORITY over elected officials and how they run their offices, Sheriff, District Attorney etc.

This has just recently changed when County Counsel Michael P. Murphy took over when Thomas Casey III retired. This is a 180 degree turn in legal advice.

Mr. Murphy has informed the BOS more than once in memo (As I have told you before) that they are responsible and they do have a duty to supervise the official conduct of all county officers, including elected officials, and additionally provides that the Board shall see that county officers faithfully perform their duties.

You might send your request to Adrienne J.Tisser President of the Board of Supervisors.
