I'll make this short: NO TAXES, PERIOD. It is just crap that anyone thinking clearly will consider raising taxes. We must decrease taxes; indeed, if we got rid of federal income taxes we would be forced to close down our 1000 military bases around the world. Less innocent people would be killed; there would be some adjustments, but we will do fine.

We can use the extra boys to do border patrol, and make sure that we know exactly who is coming in and what they bring with them. This is not rocket science: we need accountability, and need it now.

The above is a start in the right direction. Do you think we can no it? I don't think so, because I doubt we can pull enough people away from their stupid TV's long enough to talk serious, about anything.

btw, I like the new blog system, but why can't I figure out how to comment on a certain topic. It appears that this system demands a new thread with each comment. What's up with this?

Click on the POST REPLY icon which is located on the bottom left of the thread you want to reply.

The other option is to click on the QUOTE icon which I did in this post. As you can see above, your query is quoted.

Another point, the Equalization Board are the gatekeepers for property taxes. It is this committee, if I recall, that must be held accountable for making certain that there is a fair way to divide State tax income. They must have a standard to make sure how much fired equipment/manpower, etc., that is acceptable per capita. Otherwise, we have excess because, as we know, kook politicians love to waste. Again, no taxes: we must DECREASE taxes. Also, the equal. board, like any political group, must be watched closely. When they start talking crap, pressure must be applied for their removal. As if we need more politicals to watch. But the problem with our bizarre culture today can be traced along many paths, but one thing for certain, not watching the kooks in office has led to the incredible mess we are in today.

Although some taxes are necessary there is NO excuse for the level of taxation that is levied against our citizens. They are one of the main reasons gas prices are so high. Why do we need our tax money going to bridges to no where in Alaska, a tea cup museum in North Carolina, and the billions of other dollars WASTED by the federal government. Don't even get me started on the state government...the roads in this state are in disrepair but our brilliant legislature is deciding on spending money to put in children's textbooks that someone was gay or not. Taxes need to be cut and the government needs to be FORCED to budget the money it receives!

I agree with you about all that pork barrel garbage they have all over D.C. But I guess I'm not sure when it comes to the fire department. I mean, if it was my house burning down, shoot, I might be a little more open to paying the tax.

Maybe they could start taxing the so-called non-profits and lessen the burden on the working folk. And yes, that includes the ACLU and other evil lib'ral organizations you despise. But that also includes the churches you worship at.

gh, I don't know where you live or what county, but I suspect San Mateo. I just bought a house here and paid 12k in property taxes alone, last year. How is it that the fire department can't find money? Crap, we did everything with nothing in Weaverville.

I think you see my point. Listen carefully; taxation is without a doubt a very efficient method of social control. If I was poor, I really don't know if I would understand what I just wrote. But since I am lucky enough to be on the other end of the money spectrum, yet still have a heart, I do believe that the entire taxation system says one thing, (provide basic necessities), yet uses ill gained taxes to help the corp boys in their various strategies of profit, control, and hegemony. I could go on far longer, but you get the point.

The fire department is not in need of new equipment or facilities. This is to fund big salaries and HUGE RETIREMENT obligations.

Get this: A fire fighter after 30 years gets 90-95% salary for LIFE. So, many retire by 50-52 years of age, get another job, and we pay their fire salary for life.

It is broken, out of control. Vote NO on any new fire tax.
