In the article Homeowners Fight Open Space http://www.smdailyjournal.com/article_preview.php?id=98358 David Lewis says he has not read the letter sent to the Board of Save The Bay but believes it contains misinformation. Mr. Lewis is well versed in misinformation. His group, operating under the name Open space Coalition, has been distributing flyers and door knob hangers in some areas of Redwood City. Their first door knob hanger told residents Measure V was ‘the developer’s counter-measure’ despite the fact it was written and placed on the ballot by the City Council of Redwood City to give voters a viable alternative to the ill written Measure W. Mr Knight was present at council meetings where V was discussed. He knows better. The latest door knob hanger says opposition to the Measure is funded by Cargill and warns of dire consequences of Cargill’s plan. This despite the fact that no such plan has yet been submitted to the Redwood city Planning Department. Mr Knight and his group know this. They also know that Sustainable Redwood City, Citizens to Protect Redwood City, The Redwood City Seven, Majority Vote Amendment, and Redwood Shores Community Association, as well as hundreds of Redwood City residents (including some members of FORWC, STB, and Sierra Club oppose Measure W and are not funded by Cargill.
Save The Bay purports to be all about open space and the protection of parks in Redwood City but in their latest posted Annual Report they list Defeat Cargill as one of four goals for 2008. Nothing about protecting our parks.
