I Admire him, he is a great survivor of a terrible mistake the US made. The after effects of Vietnam are still with us. But, warriors are not peace time leaders. I prefer a person who fought their way to a better life as a civilian (Obama). Such a person will have plenty of qualified military people to rely on in case of a conflict. (You can stick your head up a bull's ass to look for a good steak, but I'll just trust the butcher). Leave the fighting to the military and leave the politics to our elected representatives. After the trauma McCain suffered, I simply can not trust his judgment as the leader of the most powerful nation on Earth. McCain is not at all like you or me, he can't be, not after his horrendous ordeal as a POW.
