I write a weekly column that normally appears in the Friday edition. I also write the paper's editorials which normally appear in the Wednesday edition.
I switched the order this week because I wanted to attend the community forum for the 12th District congressional candidates before writing the editorial endorsement.
In addition, my grandfather died this past weekend and I wanted to get something out there about it, just as a way to process it.

The outpouring from readers and community leaders has been tremendous. I have gotten many e-mails of support and good wishes. When I was writing it, I was thinking how fortunate I am to have the opportunity to publicly express to others. I am also fortunate so many felt touched by it and wanted to lend support.
