Message to the driver,

Nothing to worry about, wait six days walk into your local Police Department, tell them how sorry you are. Don't worry they will not arrest you, if you are concerned just go to Belmont Police Department.
Tell them you wish to be treated the same as Mr. E. Smith was.

San Mateo County District Attorneys Office does not prosecute Hit and Run cases as just demonstrated with the dismissal of the Mr. E. Smith case.

Specifically:James P. Fox, Steve Wagstaffe, Peter Lynch, Pat Flynn, do not believe it is in the best interest of San Mateo County to prosecute this type of case.

DA's message to the victim and victims supporters: MOVE ON.

3 Years ago an 18-year-old girl - good student, no criminal record, clean driving record - no drugs - no alcohol. She hit and killed a pedestrian on El Camino in Burlingame, panicked and left the scene. Within the hour she turned herself over to authorities. She was reported to be so grief stricken over the accident, she couldn't talk at first. Apparently she actually felt guilty. That wasn't enough. She was from a lower-middle-class income, bi-racial family. Her working parents remortgaged their modest home for legal representation but she was prosecuted vigorously and spent a year in jail. What a waste of the girl's potential, taxpayer money and court time. Only in San Mateo County.

Hey let's pass a new law: If you're a nice person, and turn yourself in, you can run over someone and face no prosecution! That way killing someone who gets underneath your tires will not limit your "potential".

Sounds like a law Joe Simitian can draft.

The only inconvenient part of this new law would be no verbage on the "potential" of the dead pedestrian. Or the surviving family. But why quibble over a pittance.

Roscoe, your idea may work but lets get real here - you have to be more than a nice person you have to be a white, male, middle-class-nice person. With that small edit, maybe we can get Joe drafting...

Mrs.Frankb, and Roscoe.

We don't need any more laws written.

We need to elect a District Attorney and hire San Mateo County Employees who will enforce the laws we have now.

EQUALLY.........

This idiot cannot tell 'tongue-in-cheek' from real world. This tells you what kind of moron he is and how stupid his advocacy is......

Roscoe, Ray,Ray,RS,

You might not have noticed, with all of your silly and child like posts, I think an 18 year old child in our jail with no bail, Excuse me $3,000,000 BAIL is no game.
The Appellate Court doesn't think so either.

Find another place to play.

Like other soft headed uncaring ideologues you fall into a well traveled trap.

The judicial system needs no help from your uninformed emotional diatribe against the DA to explain away this woman's crime.

She is no child, she is an adult. And she killed three people. Say it Stogner, "she killed three people".

If that was my family in that car wreck I would put up the bail. And deal with her on different terms. As it is, she will hopefully have a few years in jail to in part pay for this deed. She is no hero, she is no martyr, she is not someone to pity. An example needs to be made, we have no shortage of dangerous drivers who put others at great risk.

Tell that to Ernesto D. Smith......... A Dangerous Driver. who fled the scene.
