In today's San Mateo County Times:
"Another lawsuit targets Ayres"

The boy was ten years old. Court papers say that the boy was "unlawfully restrained" by Ayres while he was being molested.
It looks like they're going after Ayres' partners, some of whom may have been connected to the juvenile justice system in San Mateo.
Will more lawsuits follow ?

Taylor,
Thank you for keeping us posted.
"Additionally, the suit cites an unspecified number of individuals or organizations, identified as Does 3 through 300, who may be "liable in some manner" for the actions of Doe I."
This should be the suit that will be able to get Hon. Judge Marta Diaz, Hon. Judge Thomas Smith, James P. Fox, Steve Wagstaffe, Loren Buddres Chief of the Probation Department to depositition.

In addition to this law suit, court documents show that three more victims of Dr. Ayres filed suit on November 13, 2007. Their lawyer is John Carcione.

I would hope that other victims are brave enough to come forward and file civil suits. It certainly is not fair that Ayres was allowed to get rich on what was basically serial molestation.
I for one will continue to refer to him simply as Ayres, since Attorney General Jerry Brown had the foresight to suspend Ayres' medical license back in April.

Excerpt:
But the First District Court of Appeal in San Francisco ruled Tuesday that the same law allows one type of post-2003 suit: a claim by an adult who has just learned that a current disorder was caused by childhood sexual abuse.
Those adults have three years to sue the church or other employer of the alleged molester, if they can show that the employer knew or had reason to know of the danger and failed to take reasonable protective measures.
This interpretation of the law "places the burden of compensation for such injuries on the responsible parties instead of on the victims, their families and the public," Justice Maria Rivera said in the 3-0 ruling. She said the law targets a narrow group of institutions, those that "had both the knowledge and the ability to protect against abusive behavior but failed to do so."--
This means that if San Mateo County can be sued if it was found they did not act on complaints against Ayres. We know Childrens Services thwarted complaints from several therapists.
_______
Victims should be looking into this.

There should not be a statue of limitations for when someone can come forward and charges be made on a child molester. This law only protects the molester, and that’s why they get away with it. Someone who molest well never stop it is a sickness like an alcoholic but worse. They should be put away and never let out!
