A pet peeve and hot button...voter registration and actual turn out.
Our politicians have an annuity and know they can't or most likely will
never be voted out of office. Termed out is the most common way they
get removed from office.
To vote them out of office takes what, a majority or 2/3's vote, right?
But if voter turn out is usually less than 50% or some where around there,
they will NEVER be voted out.
My buddy in Australia said they have a similar but different system. If
they register and don't vote, they get fined. Wish we had the same process.
If we could just put in a law to do so, or change it to "of those who voted" or
to "of those numbers voted last election", we could get them out...but then
this new law will require a majority or 2/3's vote...
Can't win, so they will continue to have a annuity of office...
