For over a year now I've been trying to get zoning to deal with the many zoning violations in my residential area in the county. What a joke the zoning department is ! They don't even HAVE a procedure for delaing with citizen zoning complaints. When you call them, they're rude, make no attempt to get your information, and always try to tell you that it's not their problem. There is NO procedure in place for them to respond to public reports, they refuse to issue any kind of case number, and their "follow up" consists of mailing you forms saying they didn't find anything and that you are full of shit, regardless of the fact that there are zoning violations in your neighborhood.
Does anybody else have expereince with this bunch of jackasses ?
Amazingly they managed to "investigate" one of our long-standing complaints of a neighbor illegally running a business out fo their garage. What did the remarkably incompetent zoinging officers find? Nothing - they totally failed to investigate all the buildings on the property - they only checked out their tiny front garage, and compleatly ignored the huge garage on the property where all the illegally zoned business activities are going on.
Either the employees of the SMC zoning department is hopelessly incompetent, or they are taking bribes to look the other way. I really suspect it's the latter, even a county employee isn't as incompetent as they have been over such a long period (year and a half now).
