Anyone else find it disturbing the County provided a mortgage to the Deputy County Manager in excess of 1.4 million and intend to give more than 850,000 dollars to the new HSA manager. The SAME HSA manager that came to the County from Kern County - a place she left in shamble and in the middle of an investigation.

And, 4.61 percent! Funny the County provides well for management but seems to only remain at or below average in compensation for the "worker bees" of the County. Nice.

"It is anticipated that there is something to be gained countywide in having a prestigious County Department Director purchase a home in there."

There = East Palo Alto. I think he is right on this one.

I don't support the loan idea, but the more of our leaders that live in East Palo Alto the better it will be.

a county official living in East Palo Alto will really make any difference?

It's a loan, not a gift or a bonus, meaning she will be paying it back.

And yes, it's below market interest rate... so what? Is that a burden on the taxpayers or your so-called "worker bees" ?

It's always nice having benefits of working for the county or having authority. I wish I could've got a nice deal on my home loan from country. It would've lowered my payments drastically and helped me with a lot more home improvements.

It's unfair.

I'd argue your point - I do believe the difference in the market rate (lets say 6 %) and the 4.1% the county has given them is a gift.

It is stealing.
