My friend, Karin Moggridge (who, incidentally, is one of the two artists in the "Interweavings" show going on now at the Peninsula Museum of Art in Twin Pines Park), is having an open studio this Saturday, 8/12, from 1 to 5PM.
Karin is a well-known local fabric artist. In addition to the wonderful wall hangings that you'll see in the show at the Peninsula Museum of Art, she also makes wearable art (which I've termed "Art Couture"--a "pun-ny" reference to the custom-made designer garments known as "Haute Couture") using the same techniques that she uses in her wall hangings (including hand-dyeing, weaving, texturizing, pleating, embroidering, and painting). It is her "Art Couture" that she'll be offering for sale --at 25% off of the usual boutique/gallery prices-- at her open studio sale.
Karin works out of Studio #24 at the 1870 Art Center (that's the re-vamped former elementary school grounds at 1870 Ralston Ave.) Be sure to stop by and check out her work if you have time this weekend.
