San Mateo County is consolidating facilities and moving a "Mental Health Clinic" one block from my home in a tree-lined residential neighborhood in San Mateo.
Neighbors have no assurances from the county that they will be screening any of the patients for prior sexual offenses and/or criminal records.
They have offered to hire security guards, possibly at the relocated SamTrans bus stop on Alameda & West 20th Ave.
This is raising red flags in the neighborhood... why would the county NEED to put security guards in place?
That same SamTrans bus-stop will be used by students and patients for transportation.
There will be a concentration of 70 mental health patients served daily at this proposed facility, with Mental Illnesses ranging from Bi-Polar disorders to Schizophrenia. An impetuous plan by the county indeed!
The safety of our children in the neighborhood, and the safety of the children in nearby schools (adjacent from the proposed facility) is at risk.
Please help get the word out.
