Today I received an e-mail from a San Mateo Union High School District official who will remain nameless for now complaining of the "shoot-from-the-hip" journalism of our columnist Bill Silverfarb. This e-mail writer, and partly a subject of the column, was called before the column was written and said he tried calling back but the phone just rang and rang.
Now this official is upset because of a little skewering in the column.
It's frustrating when people get upset about "unbalanced journalism" when they either blow off planned appointments or choose not to call.
It's not as if we are hard to reach. And we always want to get the story straight.
