This week I wrote an editorial about the William Ayres sexual molestation case in which I praised the San Mateo Police Department for its diligence in obtaining enough evidence to allow charges to be filed against the renowned child psychiatrist.
The editorial also urged parents to be ever diligent in making sure their children know it is OK to tell them when something bad happens.
We don't always get a lot of response to the editorials, it's somewhat of a hit and miss. But I received a call from a woman who said the editorial did not go far enough because we did not praise Victoria Balfour for her work on the case.
Balfour claims to have helped the police in its case. We also received an e-mail from Balfour expecting some coverage.
So, if Balfour did help with the case, she is deserving of some praise as well. Though most people who work hard on something as serious as child molestation do so for the end result and not praise.
