Hon. Judge Thomas McGinn Smith reduces bail for Dr. William Ayres from $1,500,000 to $250,000. and why not its only a molestation case of boys right? San Mateo County does not care about sexual cases especially boys.

You might recall the same Judge just recently got his chain yanked by the Appellate Court for raising Edith Delgado's bail from $300,000 to $3,000,000
without anyone asking for it to be raised. She was not a flight risk.

It might be time for early retirement for Judge Smith.

I have several friends who are and were Airline Pilots. Each year they had to pass an examine to make sure they were fit. We San Mateo County should do the same with our Judges.

Welcome to San Mateo County

Doesn't Judge Smith know Ayres from working together at Hillcrest Juvenile Hall ? I am sure Smith thought " Surely someone like Ayres, who trained at Yale, can't possibly be capable of doing what is accused of him." Ayres is accused of molesting more than 40 boys - yet Smith set his bail lower than he did for a man who molested one kid !

If anyone is interested, another child psychiatrist named Donald Lee Rife who trained at the same place as Ayres in Boston around the same time in the 1960s, was busted for molesting young boys. Rife graduated from Harvard summa cum laude and like Ayres, did his training at Yale. Just because you're an Ivy Leaguer is no guarantee that you're not going to turn out to be a chld molester.

"Just because you're an Ivy Leaguer is no guarantee that you're not going to turn out to be a chld molester."

That's right, but it IS a gurantee that you'; get preferential treatment - reduced bail, lighter sentancing, the best lawyers money can buy, etcetera.
