Here's an excerpt from The Daily Journal article titled, Officer in molestation case escapes charges:

".............The officer, whose name is being withheld by the Daily Journal because no charges were filed, had no intent to hide suspect Joao Pierini’s crime or interfere with the investigation, said Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.

District Attorney Jim Fox decided Thursday against charging the officer for failing his duty as a mandated reporter — a misdemeanor — and instead is returning the matter to the Half Moon Bay police department for review."

Do cops who commit crimes in San Mateo County get a free ride at the DA's office? Is the San Mateo County DA tough on criminals as long as they don't wear a badge? Anybody think we should should change the name of the San Mateo County DA's Office to the "bad cop protection and alibi office"?

Wilburt,
I am not for a name change, but I'm in for a DA change.

Here we have a Police Officer who doesn't report a male adult supplying alcohol and massages to 4 minor boys, after it was brought to his attention.

The Half Moon Bay Police Department did the right thing.
He is on Admin. leave.
The District Attorney Jim Fox and Steve Wagstaffe chose not to charge him.
The Daily Journal chose no to publish his name or photo.
Case closed.

This is a perfect example of what happens in San Mateo County with respect to our children being molested. They are not a very high priorty to James P. Fox or Steve Wagstaffe.
