Did anybody read the story about the Redwood City cops who clubbed and maced the former Mr. Universe who is a diabetic after he went into insulin shock, was experiencing shock-related convulsions, and slipping into a diabetic coma? The guy apparently went into a diabetic coma while at a theater in Redwood City and became wobbly and unstable so a security guard at the theater called in the cops who laid into this guy with clubs and mace and even may have brought an attack dog to assist them in attacking this guy. Now the DA's office (i.e., cop coverup office?) is considering misdemeanor charges against this guy for assault and resisting arrest. How come the cops are not being charged with assault and battery against an innocent citizen? What about their reckless endangerment of his life? Does it seem like there are a lot of dangerous cops running around in San Mateo County?

I think the cops acted like a gang of thugs in this case. I hope this guy sues the crap out of these cops and the County that supports what I think is their reckless, dangerous behavior (i.e., clubbing and macing a person who is suffering from insulin shock can be fatal).

Wilburt,
I did read that article, and here is today's article.

Most residents don't know it but they have a new Police Chief,
His most recent experience has been training the Iraqi Police....before that
he was in South America........... That should tell you something.
This is just the begining.

Sorry, He was in Central America.....not South America

You can just imagine the types of CRIME he is used to.

Having police officers beating up a citizen at the movies....Huh...

What's the big Deal.

The Redwood City cops are supposed to be trained to recognize the difference between a person having a diabetic seizure and a threatening drunk person.

However, these cops beat and maced this poor man who was having a diabetic seizure. These violence prone cops injured this man and put his life in jeopardy. Yet, the San Mateo County DA's Office charges the innocent man with misdemeanors and lets the violent cops walk away like nothing happened.

This is worrisome. It makes you wonder if the the cops and the San Mateo County DA's Office have decided to declare war on the very same people they are supposed to be protecting?

This incident, and other problems being brought up on these message boards, make me think there is something very wrong with what is going on at the San Mateo County DA's Office and there needs to be some outside oversight of their activities.

The problem here is that an innocent person was beat and maced by the cops. Yet he is being charged. If the San Mateo County DA won't bring charges against the cops, perhaps there is a Federal solution to this matter. Were this man's Federal Civil Rights violated by the cops in this case? Perhaps this matter should be brought to the attention of the U.S. Attorney's Office in San Francisco so the FBI can investigate it.

When I lived in Noe Valley in SF years back, a guy was walking down the street wearing a pair of brain wave entrainment goggles. I thought it was pretty cool to be walking around with them on, until I saw him again after I was returning home from the Safeway...

The guy had gone into a seizure, and it was obvious. But the three SFPD officers who suddenly appeared before I could intervene were absolutely clueless as to what the hell was going on. I was horrified, the man was OBVIOUSLY having a seizure, was not violent in any way, yet they were screaming orders at him and had their guns pointed at the poor guy.

My attempts to explain what was going on to them were met mostly ignored, except for the one officer that told me to "shut the fuck up". They pushed the guy on the ground , cuffed him, ignored his seizing, and told me to "get lost" or they'd take me in, too.

I was pretty shaken up by the whole thing, and tried but couldn't get any information about the incident from the SFPD.

This type of thing happens all the time, not everybody is on a board for a major national organization or a former Mr. Universe, though. THOSE people just "disappear" in the system.

Wilburt,
Does anyone know if this has been brought to the US Attorney's Office attention.

It could be part of the conversation with the victim...that he understands with the dropping of the false charges he will not complain to anyone....

Do you actually have something to say or are you just a news clipping service?
