The Robin Aponte case was to have a Sentencing Hearing yesterday.

He plead to lessor charges to avoid up to 16 years in prison. also to avoid a trial.

Hon. Judge Craig Parsons presided over that hearing yesterday.

I was suprised as were others that the Judge allowed a defense expert witness to testify as to tire skid marks, and what in his opinion that meant the driver was doing etc.

I was expecting to hear Victim statements and relatives of the Victim statements.

Case continued to Friday 9:30 AM.... maybe more witnesses who knows.

Robin Aponte was sentenced to 3 years in prison.
credit of 384 days served so less than 2 years to go.

He plead no contest to Purposely driving his ex-girlfriend off highway 280 in 2006

The victim sustained a broken neck C3 fracture.
Not a broken back as newspapers have reported

Judge Craig Parsons did a good job explaing to the defense attorney that this was a sentencing hearing.....not a trial.....
